    Lt77 5th gear lost

Cruising back from the coast yesterday 5th gear just stopped. No crashes or bangs, just nothing.
Thought the T,box shifter must have dropped out of gear but on stopping and restarting that was OK. Still have all gears except 5th.
Found some mention of this in other threads but the photobucket pics have gone.
Is this a common problem with this box and what do I look for?

If it was an R380, I would say sheared layshaft - that's what happened to me...

But a quick look at the LT77 layshaft shows it's different to the R380 one, and it doesn't look like it has the weaker design.

Hopefully somebody with more experience with the LT77 will be along shortly...

Talking to a fairly local Landy workshop and they said its the splines on the 5th gear shaft stripped.
Reccomends to put an R380 in it instead as its a stronger box and more common therefore easier to get bits for.
But, from what I read it wont go into a Defender 200TDI unless it has a special stumpy bellhousing that are not readily available.
It seems the back end of a 300TDI and a 200TDI are not the same.
