First up; which model Disco?
Pre update or update?
I only know update stuff.
if pre update then this info may be totally incorrect.
Wiring is different, but could the same for this particular wire.
On the update, a purple/brown wire is used for interior lighting.
It goes to fuse F6 on the Satellite 2 fuse box which is 20A.
This fuse powers radio, interior lights, and clock. Also does power to trailer socket too.
if yours is an update model, check this F6 fuse on the Satellite 2 fuse group.
This Satellite 2 fuse area is the upper row of fuses placed horizontally. F6 is the one to the far left.
If you pull that fuse(20A) then your interior light should go out.
Check power to that purple/brown wire.
Depending on if you run std interior globes, and at what power they are(eg. 5W or 3W) then you could use that wire for a permanent power source, but don't draw too much power from it(ie. say a fridge or something high wattage).
if you change the interior lights to LEDs which could be less than 1W, then this allows you more leeway to run more power through that wire too.
Do you have test light or multimeter to test the voltage at those wires?
Black will be earth, but you could just make up your own alternate earth wire and secure it to the metal frame around the drivers fuse cover.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
