    MR

So i got home at about 6.30 last night after being at MR yesterday fixing the brakes... it took a while to figure out the problem, then when they found it the part they installed was faulty... Fit another new part and i take off and the brakes start applying as I'm driving... turned out the factory adjustment didnt go with the new part very well and i ended up on the side of the road unable to move, it took a fair bit of fort from the girl to get off the road where i was (an intersection) and is showed with some transmission oil coming out the dispstick area and dripping on the road where i pulled up, thankfully Jason sent my mechanic down (only 300m away, i did a loop when i realised the issue). Best part was the hood release cable had snapped so we needed the massive screwdriver to pop the bonnet latch. I was pretty concerned about the transmission as its a new one which only went in about a month or so ago so i gave her about 350ml of fluid this morning to bring her just above the full mark (2-3cm or so i think).

Anyhow I spoke to Mark at MR, one of the spare parts blokes and he reccomended Genuine/OEM rubber after discussing the pros and cons with him and what I'm looking to do in the vehicle in the foreseeable future. They also can provide the tinker bearing kits for the wheels so its nice to be able to source locally!

Re: wheel bearings, I would inspect them rather than replacing for the sake of it, this will let you spend money on other things......I reckon most people throw away perfectly good bearings.

MR used to supply a box of spares for extended trips, I used this service back on 2006, only pay for what you use on return (clutch master kit)

I have a full set of arms front and rear that you could take home, paint, insert new bushes ready for swapping over.
You can then return your exiting arms and i will put them on the shelf for future use.
    Just a thought.
    Cheers,

Cost difference between Britpart and Genuine seals: £2.04. Knowing that your brakes won't fail at any moment: Priceless.

    Thanks for the offer Tony

I appreciate the thought mate but ultimately I'm just taking it as a learning experience in terms of taking out the arms and fitting the bushes then putting them back, plus we have visitors over Christmas so anything to keep me on the tools is good (I spend the majority of my time working on computers for work and university so I appreciate any time doing work on the car)
