    Terrafirma HD steering arms

I stripped out one of the ends on my track rod and was going to replace it with something a bit more substantial.

    Is anyone runnning these arms:
    TF252 - Discovery 1 Steering Rods

The factory track rod has a short adjuster bar that goes into the end and then the tie rod end goes into it. These Terrafirma rods don't have the small adjuster bar.
Just checking that it would provide enough adjustment for the steering?

They will use L and R hand tie rod ends from the Defender.
Plenty of adjustment, just a different way (more conventional) of doing it.

FWIW, and I never see it mentioned anywhere but the factory and Maxi Drive way of using a split end and clamp results in a better fatigue life than a jam/lock nut, but in practice I've never heard of a fatigue failure of a tie rod end.

    Ok thanks.

It looks from the picture like the HD rods use a locking nut to lock off the end. That sounds pretty good to me.

Whenever i pull a tie rod end they are always stuck in so bad. It looks like the slits in the tube ends on the factory style rods let water/mud/rubbish onto the threads a good half inch down the shaft and then they just rust in place.

Yeah, i run these. Plenty of adjustment. Bent 3 sets of factory rods, these have remained straight....so far.
