Reversing lights not working 200tdi switch ok

Trying to get a friends reversing lights working on a LT77 gearbox, the switch is fine but still not working. When I short the wires out they come on plus if I keep on adjusting the switch in they come on. Can you access the top of the gearbox from inside and replace or repair what activates it

The actuator mechanism for the switch is probably sticking. To access, remove console, drill out rivets for cover and remove, can then get cover off shifter.

Looking from underneath I wonder if the rivets have already been removed as it appears to have speed clips and screws for the cover

Maybe, mine now has screws in there for exactly the same fault.

Fixed it, found that the pin that is suppose to poke out on the right hand side of the photo was missing. The pin pushes the reversing light switch. Made up a new pin as a new one of these is about $200.00.

I took my switch off in place. Was a bit of a mission to do but got it out and fitted a replacement from a spare box I had lying around. Mine looked slightly different and had two spade connectors on the end.
