Just a little trick I use if disengaging gets stuck.
In neutral while rolling disengage using lever, then pull the hand brake on slightly! Usually pops straight out![]()
It took two months but finally managed to loosen it up enough and get it into Difflock. Tried jacking up various wheels as per JC's recommendation, tried manually pushing it in at the top of the transfer box from under the vehicle while someone else operated the lever and a third person rotated a wheel, tried driving a few kms and then gave up. Since then when launching the boat have been trying and on the fourth time it finally kicked in. Will continue to put it in and out a bit and see if it gets more reliable in engaging and disengaging.

Mine wasn't working either a while ago and the mechanic just had to replace the switch and then it was all good.
On a side note my transfer box sometimes just pops out of diff lock or low range while I'm driving...I wonder if that means it just wasn't in properly to begin with...
Low range will do that if not selected properly,, In my Rossi I had to engage the clutch slightly and it popped in nicely, never been a problem with the auto's![]()

It doesn't feel like it was actually in diff lock so not certain that it's just as simple as the switch not picking it up. Could be wrong though.
When we did driver training for the old Isuzu 110's we were taught to hold it in low range when initially taking off after changing from high. This stopped it popping out (which would otherwise normally occur) and once in motion it would stay in fine.
I've found with my 03 D2 TD5 HSE it also likes to be held in low when initially taking off after changing range.
