A confirmed glutton for punishment was the end result .. hence my lifelong preference for most Rover products .. up to and not including the horrid Honda years!

Not just the distance, the reality of the public transport system has more to do with it than anything else .. not easy to go from Kew to Monbulk via public transport.

Ben came over to my place a short while back and we think we sorted the rattly noise.
Hopefully he'll confirm it when he's available again, but the new fuel pump has a slightly loose priming lever. Doesn't really lock into the up position as well as the old pump does.
So the lever flaps up and down like the clappers as the pump does it's pumping thing.
We flipped it back up again and the rattle definitely came from there once it was locked back up again. Question is, with the vibes of a Tdi, will the priming lever stay locked upwards.

I've been thinking about it, and if it comes loose again, it(the lever) may need a slight amount of pressure (towards the front of the car) to create a better frictional resistance on the body of the pump to stop it from loosening again.

From the short drive we did around my place, his Tdi sounds solid and strong too.
The only problem I now have, after that drive, is that his new Wrangler muddies have me hooked! ... and I'd prefer to spend those $s on things I want/need more than a set of tyres I won't need for a couple more years yet!
Haha I'll PM you the details of the place I got the price for those tyres in that size (and anyone else who wants to know) and then you can take that info to Beaurepairs and they will match it! Only good for 245/75/16 size though apparently, other sizes are more expensive.

The priming lever at least didn't come loose again, it might with more bumps but I drove it home for half an hour and it's still sitting where it should be. Unfortunately that other noise under load is still there, guess I'll keep investigating...thanks again Arthur, look forward to going for a drive sometime!

I'm sure I'll be up there once or twice more this year, they are trustworthy folk and they do great work for great prices too. Plus Tony loves Land Rovers and he drives them too, has a great older Defender and some others, prefers the older ones and loves the 300Tdi...now that's the guy I want working on my car! Just wish he was in Kew and not Monbulk haha
I'll be sure to drop in and say hi if I'm passing ☺
The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈
