I passed that test with flying colours!
A confirmed glutton for punishment was the end result .. hence my lifelong preference for most Rover products .. up to and
not including the horrid Honda years!
Not just the distance, the
reality of the public transport system has more to do with it than anything else .. not easy to go from Kew to Monbulk via public transport.
Ben came over to my place a short while back and we think we sorted the rattly noise.
Hopefully he'll confirm it when he's available again, but the new fuel pump has a slightly loose priming lever. Doesn't really lock into the up position as well as the old pump does.
So the lever flaps up and down like the clappers as the pump does it's pumping thing.
We flipped it back up again and the rattle definitely came from there once it was locked back up again. Question is, with the vibes of a Tdi, will the priming lever stay locked upwards.
I've been thinking about it, and if it comes loose again, it(the lever) may need a slight amount of pressure (towards the front of the car) to create a better frictional resistance on the body of the pump to stop it from loosening again.
From the short drive we did around my place, his Tdi sounds solid and strong too.
The only problem I now have, after that drive, is that his new Wrangler muddies have me hooked! ... and I'd prefer to spend those $s on things I want/need more than a set of tyres I won't need for a couple more years yet!
