Will a bonnet scoop reduce heat in the engine bay?

A couple of Defender vents in the mudguards should do the job.

When you say mudguard where exactly do you mean? Inside the wheel arch facing the engine bay?

Defenders have them on the top, but I have seen side ones advertised in LR magazines.

isnt that what the gaps in the panels are for?

Matt one very effective way to keep the engine bay heat down is ceramic coating the exhaust manifold, turbo and dump/exhaust pipes (s). Please have a look at FBD Modifications Face Book. I have a kit for the TD5 in stock. This also works regardless of how fast or slow you are going, so a great bonus when working your engine hard at low speed.

Agreed, cooling system should be perfect and the Exhuast should be ceramic coated (can coat in and out now) before adding scoops or vents.

Uninformed cut a fairly good sized one in the near side guard, it works a treat.

The ones on top of the guards where the intake is for the ventilation in L & RHD markets actually had quite a bit of reversion/disturbed air flow when I've wool tuft tested it.
