I must be on the set of driving miss daisy. My temps have never gone to 100c. 95 was highest and that was in hilly country on a 42c day. I did manage the ac though and backed off a lot. I must just be a chicken or WA is too flat.

Oil yes! .. had/have plans to do something about that.
Trans cooler is separate.
On the oil cooler(in rad).
On my testing, on the drive where I eventually saw 117 for the coolant, engine oil temps peaked at 101°C.
On the grille-less drive, oil peaked at 90(coolant 103) for a brief sec or so, but settled in the high 80's(generally 87).
So oil would be contributing to extra coolant heat as well.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

I did look into actuators today and drew a movable louvre (similar to plantation shutters on houses) on autocad that kinda seals itself when closed. The idea of being able to close n open them appeals to me. Kinda like flying an old messerschmit. Well, more like bristol bomber or something else bulky and pommie.
Movable cowl flaps are pretty common on higher powered GA aircraft. 1950’s VW’s had thermostatly controlled flaps on an air cooled engine, after warming up flaps would open to allow cooling. The thermostat was a bellows type.
The geek in me says do it...
The other side of me says - you’re overthinking this..![]()
About the same here...but my temp is from a thermocouple on the head..not actual coolant temp....I expect coolant tempt to be a few degrees hotter than temp displayed.
I have driven in 45deg at about 100- on hwy (flat country) with temp showing 90-95. Hilly country on a hot day I have seen 100.
I have the thermo fans rewired so I can use them independently of aircon as well.
My rad was rodded about 8 years ago so far from new condition.
Update RRC mould and first fiberglass unit made, should recieve early next week, will post pic when all painted up, pretty exited!
Will be bolt on with ability to mould to bonnet if wanted.![]()
