    Over cool

The scoop is only the byproduct of needing the extra height to clear engine .The rad is 3500 square cm compared to 1638 normal Defender, the transmission tunnel 200x500mm
cross section .There is a vent where the snorkel used to be and the engine has two 82 degree thermostats Never seen more than 80deg in any conditions so dont think a couple of lights worry it

Top 200mm screened off for more heat

This is just awesome, to be honest i didnt notice the forward facing scoop at all until you mentioned it, and wow very cool mods to increase airflow!
    What engine?

That side vent looks similar to the pics of others I posted earlier. Very cool.
Why is an AC condenser needed there?

Would they let rain in and cause electrical problems?

Not in a 300Tdi i would imagine, maybe if they were directly over electrical ignition components in a V8 petrol.
