D1 LED tail-brake globe that works.
I've tried a few cheap and not so cheap LED globes for the tail/brake incandescent, but so far very little luck in getting one that works.
The main problem has been that the tails work, but when fitting both LEDs the brake lights don't work. If only the one LED is fitted and the an incandescent is used for the other, the LED globe's brake globe works, but fit both LEDs, and the tails work, but the brake lights don't.
Obviously resistance is too low, so a resistor is needed. Some of the so called Canbus LEDs still don't work, even tho they're supposed too.
Anyhow, I finally got some LED tail/brake globes that work well.
Note that I used RED led coloured globes.
Globe type is BAY15D or 1157.

The one on the LHS is a globe I got from BrightlightAuto parts.
They have their own store and an ebay store.
Expensive, but they work, unlike many others that I've tried.
Problem is that the park/tail led brightness is too high, and even tho they do brighten up on the brake light, the difference isn't enough(for my liking).
I didn't use them, and they are seriously silly $'s just for a globe(about $30 each!)
if your lens is old, crappy, scratched, faded, tinted or whatever, and the lights are too dim as is, then the brightlight globe could be a suitable alternative due to it's brighter tail setting.
On the RHS, is the Philips Vision series.
Works perfectly. Dim enough on tail/park, and a much greater difference when the brake light comes on. Basically works exactly as the standard incandescent globe does in terms of brightness(es).
This is the one I'd recommend if you're looking for LED tail/brake globes. They cost me $50.
If you mix'n'match LEDs with standard globes, you want the philips for the tail/brake. The brightlight is just too much brighter, and it looks out of whack with only the one.
Hopefully no more blown brake globe(4 in 2yrs), which is a total PITA to replace in the D1!
The problem mine's having is that the globe holder is too tight in it's spot in the tail light, and there's no where near enough room for a fist inside the access area to allow easy fitment.
So I have to take the light assembly off the body to refit the bulb holder. Problem with taking the tail assembly off is the idiotic design using the separate and loose bracing/support system.
Arthur.
