Spring are cheap...
Depending on the lift height if you will more than likely need shocks as well.
So just picked up a cheap Disco 1 as a bit of a project tyres are buggered anyway so gone a bit bigger and just throwing around options at the moment to get a bit of extra height. I see the rear springs can lift the front, but I'm curious are there any other factory spring's that one might find at a wreckers to lift the back? I've read something about defender springs but couldn't find much detail as to which ones from what models. Or do we just have to bite the bullet and get new raised rears? I realise that it won be perfect ride mixing springs around but that's fine

Cheap lift? Space the springs and if you have to lift the shock locations. If you have access to stuff like that. Certainly cheap if you do and if its a dunger.
There are plenty of Disco 1 being wreaked and finding one with a 2' lift should be easy ... they won't be expensive to purchase and
you may just pick up a set of reasonable second hand shocks with them as well.
Baggy
91 RRC rear springs with a green stripe raise the front of a D2 about 35-40MM. I have done it on mine and it works well. I cut the bottom coil to give a bit of a "step" so it fitted in the socket in a D2 but LRA advised that this was not necessary. They are 160Lb per inch compression so are a little stiffer than stock.
I bought a second hand set of medium yellow springs, Dobinson? for the rear from another forum member and they also work well. Give about 40MM lift.
stock Monroe Wilie shocks are Ok but do top out if going over traffic calming if taken too fast .
