    Distributor: Repair or Replace?

    Hi all,

went to repair the distributor ('95 V8) as per Bee Utey's Nylon clip repair instructions. Like others, the vacuum advance replacement got more complicated... What I've found is quite a bit of surface pitting and buildup around the top, inside and out, of the shaft where the rotor is seated. I assume I could remove this with some fine sandpaper, but is that good enough or is it best to replace it at this point?

Also - the discolouration on the flange at the bottom!?!?

The rust is a minor thing, just clean it with a bit of sand paper. It only needs to be good enough to turn a plastic rotor button with a built in spring clip. The discolouring of the bottom plate is probably from factory grinding of the advance stop, nothing you would need to worry about.
