    Hi All,

    I managed to fit some more work on the D1 over the weekend... I removed the existing front bumper (which I will clean up and put up for sale at a later date). Via Gumtree I purchased a second hand original bumper for $100.

    Naturally the plastic on the original bumper is very faded.. The bumper pulls apart into 5 seconds (a steel bumper, 2 end caps, a wide plastic spoiler and the section that the number plate attaches to). Here are the plastic bits before cleaning:

    I set about sanding down some of the worst spots (3000 grit), and then painted the various bits:

    And while I was at it - I did the same for the grill & headlight surrounds:

    I have re-installed the rear bumper but forgot to take a photo (I'll do that this week).

    I am not overly happy with the bonnet - I spoke to a vinyl wrapping company and they said that a wrap won't stick to faded paint - it will cause bubbles and peeling. They said that vinyl wrap only works on clear coat... Hmm - interesting, I didn't know that.

    What's left to do?

    * Steam clean the interior
    * Re-fit the front bumper, grill and headlight surrounds
    * Investigate an electrical issue
    * Full Service
    * Fit seat covers
    * RWC and club rego

    Cheers,
    GG.

    Hi All,

    A bit more work done over the last few days...

    Removed the front bumper - I will sand it, paint it, and put it up for sale.

    Rear bumper is now installed:

    I took the grill off and headlight surrounds - the headlights are a bit dirty:

    I cleaned and polished them:

    And I started to re-assemble the front grill and headlight surround:

    Cheers,
    GG.

    Gotta ask, why didn't you bog that ding when you painted the bonnet?

    Good question - mainly being lazy. There are a few other dings and scratches on the car. And if I start down that process.... I will never finish it and won’t want to drive it because it’s sooo pretty! Meet Steely Dan the D1Meet Steely Dan the D1Meet Steely Dan the D1

    Yeah that's all a fair call...once you start you can't stop. Plus when you start bogging you can't stop until it's right otherwise it looks worse, when you just wanna tart up It's not worth it especially on a 4x4.
    My falcon has been sitting a while with bog spots and primer all over it. It was just about roadworthy again and then I started painting it...I'll get around to it one day hopfully this summerMeet Steely Dan the D1

    Hi All,

    Getting there.... Spent a good bit of time on the D1 this weekend...

    First up I purchased a mini cleaner from SuperCheap and decided to clean the rear seats / carpet..

    Before - just general staining:

    After - still not perfect but not bad.

    Here's the water afterwards:

    Next up - fitted some seat covers (the drivers seat has some tears and wouldn't pass a RWC):

    Fitted some valve caps:

    And finished off the bumper - installed the main bumper, end caps, spoiler, driving lights, etc:

    It looks much better than the winch bar:

    Also re-installed the snorkel.

    And gave the inside a quick clean while I was at it...

    Nearly there..

    Cheers,
    GG.
