I’ve got 31x10.5x15 on my disco 1. Speedo is now only a couple k’s out.
Drives fine, sits on 100 fine, fuel is about 12l/100ks now

I have 245/70/16 Mickey Thompson ATZ p3's on my D2a and i have absolutely No dramas with them in sand/mud/rocks.
I did a test fit with the 265/75/16 tyres but they rubbedtoo much and i am not a fan of lifting the truck so i went with the 245/70/16's.
Skinny tyres ARE better in sand But as I tow a 1.5t boat I like the wider tyres because they have a better load capacity and a bigger footprint for the road work.
255/70's here.(how I got mine, not my choice)
I reckon just about spot on in terms of gearing, more so on the open road(which is my preferred travel destination).
I'm not demanding of my Tdi, and neither push it, nor drive fastly.
I mainly do 95-100 as my self imposed upper limit.
If I hot a hill and it's ability is to top out at (say) 80, then I just feather it to sit on about 80 .. not push harder to do 85 or whatever.
I do feel like the slowest horse in the race almost all the time, but the other day I had to back off up a hill due to an older Hilux driver slowing me up!
Can't help much in terms of which tyre or brand, other than to say don't get Yokohamas!
I may post a which tyre Q myself too .. I'm over these Yoko tyres ruining my holiday drives.
My Yokos suffered two fails, and some unusual wear.
Brother on his K02s had no issues, other than some excessive wear on the tread. The 300 klm drive home on bitumen tho cleaned the tread up a little tho.
I ran yokies for years then i found the Micky thompson ATZ P3's and have them fitted to ALL my 3x 4WD's now.
I Never had any dramas with the yokies over the years But the Mickey Thompsons are a much better tyre and they are competitively priced as well
Only tyres I've had more grief with were the old Desert Duellers .. horrid things they were .. two blown and many flats in my RRC .. both with it's original tube rims and then with the D1 tubeless rims I replaced them with.
My G012's have caused me no end of grief, usually just flats, I guess mainly nails .. dunno.
was 10 up till this recent trip, but now 12 flats in 2 yrs, and 55K klms. They still have about 20K klms in them, but I'm just going to dump them .. and not due to the sidewall damage on the rear left now.. mainly as I don't want any more dramas.
I know I'm not hard on tyres, as a courier, I've gone over 100K klms with most of my tyres, usually a cheap no name Chinese brand too.
If I hadn't had as many let downs, I'd rate them as the best tyre I've ever had. drip wise, I reckon as good as any, if not better.
Just the magnetic attraction to whatever it is that usually deflates them .. and now with the sidewall rip puncture .. where my brothers KO2 don't even show any sings of scraping! .. I want something stronger.
At the moment I'm umming and ahhing between KO2s and Duratracs, but I'm open to other experiences .. unless I have to change them tomorrow due to them exploding on me on my way down the freeway to work! [bigsmile]
I run KO2 love them, never yes never had a flat or sidewall damage with any KO tire and that's now well over 100,000km and some very serious 4wding
