Help making up new box of essential spare parts - 300Tdi (mine got stolen)

In January this year my poor Disco with all its well curated gear got broken into and ransacked. I was having marriage problems and usually it stays in a secure underground car park so no issues in my building but I was staying at my parents that night and didn't have time to organise anything so it was parked on the street, in Surrey Hills mind you not like it was in an industrial estate in Thomastown, and anyway that night some proper scumbags hit about 15 cars in the area mine being one of them and made off with lots of my really nice stuff

Thankfully the only car damage was to the drivers side lock which is how they got in, and although they made a mess they didn't actually damage the car itself and only took the big things that were easy to identify and replace...the cops actually found my fridge which was amazing and it wasn't damaged, so that was a plus. Most everything else got covered by my insurance which is good however aside from the hassle of it all I had a really great big box of spare parts which had been replaced with new ones but the old ones still worked (well enough anyway for spares) and other bibs and bobs.

Long story short (I've already made it long sorry) I need to curate another kit of spares and bits and pieces so would love some input as to what I should put in this kit. I don't remember what was in here aside from a few things like a main radiator hose, old water pump, fuel lift pump, probably a fuel filter, but there was so much more.

I don't need to re-create it but just wondering what people think should really be carried around on any trip in a 300Tdi because I've gotta make my box of spares up again...bloody jerk thieves go get a job and buy your own damn things!

Sorry to hear about your circumstances Ben .. hopefully it'll all come good in the end.

Anyhow, quick story: My D1 was broken into one night, in my driveway!
The ransacked the glovebox and centre cubby, everything in there was on the seats.
My bad as I forgot to lock it(remote central locking) .. just plain forgot to push the button.
Anyhow, they rifled through everything, took my smokes(rollies) and my backpack.
Backpack contained noting of value to anyone, just work gear. Old worn gloves, pens, time/run sheets, literally no value to anyone.
They left about $15 in coins in the coin tray, they touched none of the back, incl some tools and spares!

Some ideas on spares to have:
    1/. fan belt.
    2/. rear donut(rubber universal joint)
3/. Uni joint. They're hard to replace on your own. But if you're in the middle of nowhere, could be handy to have one if you can locate some place to replace it.
    4/. wheel bearing and seal.

Probably more important to have stuff that can help to temporarily fix the broken thing, and some basic tools to help with that.
eg. good quality silicon, a good range of nuts and bolts, largish plumbers wrench as well as your typical std tools(sockets/spanners/screw drivers.. etc).
Roll of self amalgamating tape. Main hose is useful, but if another hose splits the tape can temp fix it to keep you going.
    Arthur.

I'll start the ball rolling Young Angus, you posted "parts" not "tools" but it is more or less essential to have the necessary tools - eg, 10/12/13/14/15/17mm spanners and sockets, a good shifter, and a fan hub spanner (you won't be fitting anything much up the front of the motor without it.). I would be carrying a lift pump, water pump, "P" gasket, 3 of the long water pump through bolts (they quickly corrode if the "P" gasket leaks), a set of hoses and belts, spare filters, gorilla tape and blue max sealant and probably a fair bit more depending on where I was going.

    - we'll see what others suggest. Apologies to Arthur - I obviously was pecking around my keyboard when he posted his useful suggestions

NB: REPCO have a $100 chinese water pump that needs a bit of grinding to fit a D1 and doesn't last - better to get one of the Pom ones from a reputable supplier

Thanks everyone that's the stuff I'm after Luckily my tools weren't in there so I have lots of the right tools to do work, I do need a fan spanner though it's been on my list for a while.

That and the tape suggested would be a good idea!

Drive shaft socket tool helps as well, the flared one. Just in case. I also have i think it’s 13mm socket that i ground down at tip that helps me get at bolts on clutch. Not sure if you would do such a big job out in nowhere but it’s just always in my toolbox. Maybe look on gumtree if anyone selling LR spare parts or ask wreckers if anybody trying to sell bits. Not sure why they would take that. I have wading plugs too and all the things mentioned above too. And spare coolant and oil. If your heater still connected maybe take a brass 90degree bend in case you need to bypass for some reason at the hoses under your bonnet.
