    V8i Disco 1991 pistons

Hi this will be my first post, Im from South Africa
I bought a 1991 Disco 1 V8i manual but there were a knock in the motor, I stripped it down and found a cracked piston, now the questions I have:
How do I know if it is a 3.5 or 3.9?
How do I know if it uses a high compression or low compression piston?
Here I can buy 1 x low compression piston for R800.00 but if it is a high compression it will be 8 pistons for R8000.00, they dont sell high comp pistons loose.

    Thanks

If it is standard, it will be a 3.5 as it is too early for a 3.9 in a Disco - but the 3.9 was around in the Range Rover so if the engine has been changed it could be a 3.9

Look for the engine number, it will be on a pad between the left two centre cylinders (between the exhaust pipes) at the top of the block where the dipstick tube goes into the block. Check that number here Rover V8 Engine Numbers and it should tell you what you have.

Also on that pad with the engine number should be the compression ratio either 8.13:1 or 9.35:1.
