Question Alternator issues - where can I source an updated rave version

    Hey Guys...

I'm having some strange issues with my D1 300tdi alternator. After replacing the Waterpump/P gasket and putting it all back together and then going for a drive I noticed that the charging volts were quite high - over 15v and sometimes up to 15.5v (Tacho was also jumping around a bit). This has never done this before and the Alt is fairly new Denso one. The volts got that high that eventually on the drive home the Battery light came on and stayed on the volts returned back to 12.6 (ie not charging) + the Tacho stopped working as well

It's impossible to get the 2 small wires around the wrong way as one is a spade connection and the other is a lug type.

The following day I tried to investigate the issue and and low and behold it came all came good until I again took it for a a bit of a drive but this time the battery light just came on; tacho stopped working and obviously no charging.

Day-3 tried again and it again seems to be running fine but yet to take it for a drive as I'm house-bound for the moment...

I tried looking up my RAVE files to view the Wiring Diagram but my Rave is not working - says its out of date/missing some files.

Can anyone help us as to where I might locate a up-to-date copy of the Rave Files? Also... has anyone experienced the issue I'm having?

    thanks in advance....
    Rob

What computer type do you use? Windows(what version... XP, 7, 8, 10? ... Mac? ... Linux?

You may not be 'missing files' .. maybe the links to them have somehow got confused or something.

If Mac or Linux .. sorry can't really help. If Win .. can.

    Thanks guys...

Having coolant leak into the alternator could that have caused any issues?

yep, that will stuff the slip ring contacts and promote failure of the module.
