Slide seat full forward and back. There is not a lot of room, but there is enough.
Had the drivers seat out of my '93 3 door a while ago, you can get to them.
Hello All
As the title of my message states, how do you remove the front seats from an early 1991 3 door Discovery? I can see the two bolts inside the frame slider - front and rear, connecting the seat to the fold up base mechanism, but the seat will not slide forward enough to gain access to the rear slider captive bolts and vice versa for the front bolts!!
What is the trick to do this?
Kind Regards
greg.p

Thanks for replying mate, I’ll keep on trying with my torx keys.
2 have caged nuts and 2 do not by memory.
Closest to door has nuts and closest to tunnel have caged nuts.
Also i used a torx bit in a ratchet with an adapter to get the correct height.
Plus pull the carpet back to see better.
Thank you Johndoe, much appreciated.
Well, the broken seat is finally out, thanks to the advice from members.
Unfortunately, I then learnt that a seat from a 5 door Discovery 1 does not fit onto the tilting mechanism of a 3 door Discovery 1 - the seat runners are way too wide for the base - a trap for new players obviously😡
So at this point I’m a bit stuck!
Does anyone have a front seat from a 3 door Disco 1 that they want to sell - it doesn’t matter what colour, so long as the seat frame is in good condition (my interior is tan).
Alternatively, will a seat from another vehicle make fit the tilting mechanism of a Disco 1?
All advice greatly appreciated. greg.p
Yes another seat can fit.
Depending on the seat depends on the work.
I very recently fitted race seats to my D1.
I just took the actual seat off the sliding base and then welded up a bracket to fit my race seats.
The base needed quite a bit of hacking as it was not even close.
Took me a day mostly because of all the dummy fitting that took place. Height and tilt were important to me so had to get it just right.
Seat base broken at the back?
If so, not a big job to remove the coverings and weld/brace it.
