Bubbling in coolant tank and slightly lower coolant level - not overheating - 300tdi

My 300tdi D1 has had a lot of driving this past year since its last service up and down Mount Hotham and a few off road adventures up around the same area. Never dropped any coolant levels and engine temps always stable and good. Really never a problem and I kept a close eye on things.

Recently I noticed the coolant had dropped in the header tank about 3 or 4cm which is unusual, and it was quick bubbly inside the coolant tank too. Engine temps remained very good and stable though and no milky oil or anything like that, everything else looked normal.

It needs a service so maybe the guys there will be able to see something. I did drive it a bit harder than usual on my recent high country VIC trip (easy tracks) because I got to a dead end that shouldn't have been there and got a bit stressed about how much time it would take for me to backtrack...shouldn't have done that but I did lose a rear mud flap in the process but didn't really hit anything hard I just should have kept calm. Slight chance I hit something harder than usual in that time but in general it's just done lots of driving over teh past year.

Any ideas? I can't see any coolant leaks or anything, not big ones at least, radiator is still full too it's just the coolant tank that's dropped and I noticed bubbles in there which I'm not sure if they're normal or not.

Can get a CO test done when servicing. Tests the coolant for exhaust gasses. Mine drops a bit of coolant very slowly and sometimes the engine saver lets off a short beep. Might be sucking air in a bit or dropping a bit of coolant. Albeit very slowly and i top it up every 3-4 months.

No emissions in my coolant though. There was a very slow leak in one of hoses that dripped behind alternator n was hard to see. Pulled stuff back and was definitely hose and not p gasket
