    RRC ecu

    Hi all,

I know the subject of RRC electric seat ecu’s and related switch gear problems has been done to death but I think this might be something slightly different. So here goes.

    Bit of back story:
I am very lucky to have sources a set of near mint RRC 93 memory seats and have fit them in using seat bases from an older RRC. This is on a 95 Discovery just before the seat bases changed so you just take out the D1 base and the RRC seat base lines up with your existing bolt holes and also to a capped bolt hole under the carpet on the transmission tunnel. All the electrics work- the ecu battery had just started to leak but hadn’t caused any damage so just replaced the small battery.

Anyway, back to the question: when wiring these seats in a lot of people simply bypass the Ecu and just run through the switches. Would it not however be possible to retain the memory function by running power through the ecu? I know originally the ecu would have received ignition key position inputs and door position inputs and mirror position outputs but would the seat memory function remain without these?

You might ask why I would be so bothered I just hate having non functioning switches on my D1 and if it’s possible why not?!

Let me know what you think!

You would have to wire it exactly as per the manual with inputs for door, speed and handbrake position.
Memory positions are stored on the board.
    See attached.
If you ever decide to wire it only for manual control and not use the board then please PM me.
