You won’t get pressure at cranking speed.
Hey folks,
I have a rebuilt 300tdi that i am cranking with the glow plugs out to get oil pressure before i connect up the fuel.
I have cranked it for many bursts and still no oil pressure.
Oil pump is new. All the bearing clearances were checked.
Pickup o-ring and strainer all done.
Any one had it take ages and ages to build oil pressure in a rebuild?
Any tricks to get it pick up the oil?

You won’t get pressure at cranking speed.
Bear in mind the pump has to fill the filter and all the galleries before pressure registers
Will take a while (2-3minutes) at cranking speed

I ended up putting oil in a large syringe down the op oil cooler pipe, whilst cranking over the engine and that got oil pumping out the turbo feed line finally
The engine runs sweet!
