    300tdi injector pump leaking

Hi all, I had a leak from my injector pump, so I took it off and replaced the O ring that goes in the bung that screws into the back of the pump (the distributor head). It's the one that sits between the outlet ports. While I had the pump off, I replaced the O ring seal for the hydraulic head. It's fine and isn't leaking - just thought I would renew while it is off. I have it back together and running, but it still has a small leak which appears as though it may be coming from the thread(s) of an outlet port.I took them all out and replaced the copper seal on them, but it still has a small leak.

Is there any secret to sealing the threads on the outlet portsS I.E. sealant or tape or some such?

    Thanks,
    Tom.

loctite 567 or 577 but you have to let them set up or use the accelerator spray with them around diesel.

If not entirely sure of leak, assume you've done all this, but if not. You've reached your hand around the injector body when running to feel for leaks. Mirror and light source. Could be scoring of the joint union involving the injector feed pipe and outlet from the head or misalignment, rather than leak from the outlet/head junction.

Could be scoring of body under the copper washer. Did the original washer show any corrosion markings? Outlet pipes coming from the steel head sufficiently tight.

Pain in the neck but remove the unit again with fuel in it. Wash exterior down with degreaser and water. Let it dry. Leave it for an hour (although sometimes I've had to leave overnight) any leak will appear as a 'moist' stain creeping out from the joint. Could be residual fuel stuck in the joint at closing or the actual leak. May have to do the procedure several times. You could apply light covering of corn starch.

If you're confident of which joint is leaking I can't see a problem with joint tape, keeping it up the bolt away from the immediate intersection of the two parts, not that I've had to do this. Loctite?

Thanks for the replies, very much appreciated. Looks like it is a known problem and therefore fixable. The leak is very slow and I really don't want to remove the pump again if possible. I think I'll go the loctite way. I have a second car, so leaving it to set isn't a problem!

    Many thanks,
    Tom.

Just took it on it's first run (other than around the village) and dry as a bone! Loctite 577 worked like a bought one. Many thanks Gents!
