Window regulator damaged or missing. There wedges to stop thieves pushing window down to gain entry.
Hello All,
What could have caused the previous owner to revert to jamming three long wooden wedges down the inside of the rear passenger window? What tell-tale-signs should I be looking out for to remedy the situation?
The history of my 1996 300TDI Discovery is unobtainable and the vehicle was bought "As Is". So I cannot ask the previous owner anything about the vehicle's history and the possible causes of some of its faults.
Some tips to what to look out for would be greatly appreciated. Apart from the presence of three large wooden wedges in the window telling me that something is amiss?
Kind regards
Lionel

......to stop it rattling within the door...does it wind up and down?
Why is it free to rattle?
Something broken in the window locating/control mechanism probably.
The window guides, the scissor gear, the window mount channel.
You will need to take the door skin off and have a look inside.
Wont be that tricky or expensive.
I bought a tdi a month ago with a piece of 2x4 in the rear left door. The plastic wheel on the regulator snapped. I dont understand why the previous owner didnt just fix it...
