Question 98 D1 door lock knob not popping all the way up

The drivers door on our 1998 Discovery 1 V8i is not unlocking with the central unlocking. When the button is pushed, all the other doors unlock, but the drivers door requires the internal door lock knob to be pulled up just 1 or 2mm more before it can be opened using the external door handle. Is this a common fault? Sign of a dying door lock actuator or some other tricks to resolve?

Usually a broken spring in the lock. There was a guy in the uk making the springs to repair this.

In my experience, another potential cause is a low battery.

    Thanks.

They don't post to Australia. I'll have to scratch around for an alternative source. A pity as those are apparently made in the UK.

AllFourx4 list them < https://www.allfourx4.com.au/Door-La...ATCHREPAIRKIT2 > but are out of stock.

There's a number of options for Chinese made versions that are available through eBay - so I've just bought a set of 8 for spares.

these are made in china and they post to Australia.

5X Door Lock Latchs Repair Springs Set for Land Rover Discoverys 1MK1 Neu | eBay

if spring is not broken, maybe just needs some lube if it's moving part way.

edit: just seen you have already, maybe Chinese, but at least you get 5 of them.

This is happening with mine too. Mostly rear driver's door, but occasionaly rear passenger door. I replaced the actuator in the rear driver's door (with another second hand one), but didn't fix the issue. The door lock is quite stiff to lift up and down by hand, I'm not sure if that tiny spring assists with that or not. I've ordered a set from eBay through the link mentioned above, worth a shot.
