    Another Land Rover saved

Boored at work skimming thru gumtree found a very poor looking disco 1 300tdi manual
Had a look at it and oh boy did it need work head gasket tie rod ends injection pump leaking and every other disco fault present
Also to add to the woes it was unlicensed
So thinking of a challenge I paid the large sum of $400 and grabbed a permit drove it home
So putting the series 3 rebuild on hold for four months got stuck into it it fought me thru every bit
So in the end head gasket and head skim timing belt kit all four rotors and calliper kits wheel bearing complete hose kit tie rod ends hand brake cable panard bushes brake vacuum pump roof trim and replace the spring in 3 door locks
Also spoilt it with a new wind screen and bull bar and winch
So in the end ended up with a mechanically sound Disco under $5000 only issue now is the kids keep taking it

Your posted pics suggest that it has a good clean and straight body with reasonably good paint.

This being the case, mechanical issues are not really a problem, provided you can do the labor.

Did it have bar and winch when you got it?

If it did I reckon you got a bargain.

    Nice looking project, well done.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

Thanks done everything myself as I worked for a Land Rover dealership from mid 90s to the 2000s but got the bar separate but it’s missing the end panels that go under the guards (hopefully one day find them or will make myself)so got it real cheap and they gave me the winch thinking it was not working but being a auto sparkie a hours labour works great
The most expensive thing was the windscreen and mouldings $700 all up fitted
