200tdi Fuel Injector Pump Leak from unknown bolt
Hi all.
Apologies if this is has been covered somewhere however I have done some deep research (in the last few hours on the side of the road) and cant seem to find any info on my issue.
I have discovered a diesel leak from a bolt on the front of the fuel injection pump, near the pump gasket and timing case. As it appears to have a zinc washer I’m assuming an internal seal/ring is present and has failed. Does anyone know what this bolts purpose is, and if it is an internal seal, the best approach to access it (can the pump top housing come off or does the entire pump need to be removed to allow the bolt to be removed)? This pump is on a 200tdi Discovery 1 and the pump part number is ERR0459.
This happened (or was noticed) about 200km after replacing the mechanical fuel lift pump. I just attempted to give the bolt a very slight nip up which in fact made the weeping leak a little worse and is more of a constant drip stream now.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
