    300tdi Power (or lack of)

Hi, Need some comments on how to improve the power especially torque for towing with reliability a key objective. Already have a slight tweek to pump and power without van(13' Jayco poptop) is not an issue. Also have a larger intercooler, unfortunately cheaped out and got one off ebay that fitted in original spot! or what ad should have said is not quite fits. Did not notice any real difference from original maybe a slight drop in EGT's Anyhow just looking for ideas VNT, Allard intercoolers etc Not looking for much but don't want to be continuously looking at gauges.
    Thanks Joe

Plenty of info in here on that topic and hopefully others more learned than me will turn up.
But IMO the idea of towing with a TDI and not wanting to keep an eye on gauges is a bit of a reach.
If you are keen to keep the TDI and want to tow and keep up with traffic to some degree then perhaps the VNT idea has most merit.
But a good tune with a hybrid turbo upgrade may also do it?

Thanks for responses, have looked at all sorts of mods for a long while, so probably question a bit loaded. Car in question is a 81 RRC which we have had for over 30 years and been great, since recently and it's age is showing, also bought a FL 2 a few years ago and that has been a revelation does everything the RRC can do it's the same size but better. It's only flaw is it does not have the same history or character of the RR. Fleetingly thought of trading both for a new defender but since they all seem to be in the 6 figure bracket we are no longer LR customers. Plan B could have been a Puma Defender but need an auto, and LR seem to have built in a few problems in them also and not sure I want to solve them for LR, after 70years they should have done a lot better to farewell the line! Sorry for the philosophising and need to get on and make a decision, need to move off one car, as have taken on a few other projects.
    Thanks Joe
