Discovery 1 V8 Top Hose Replacement
I need to replace the cooling top hose on Disco 1 V8. It’s been there for 24 years and looking dodgy. The original genuine hose must have been a good one !
I have picked up an Allmakes replacement hose. I usually don’t use their stuff, are they ok.
I assume when engine is cold the thermostat is closed, and top hose is empty ? Or have I got that wrong? So can I just remove and replace the hose or should I syphon some coolant out of top of radiator first ??
Looking for some wisdom here

They are a cross flow radiator, so you will not lose much. The thermostat being closed will still allow some flow. Probably the best way would be to cut the old hose at the radiator end, remove what is left while keep the engine end above the engine. But if both hose's are that age I would be inclined to replace both of them!

Thanks Old Farang. That’s a good idea. The bottom hose is much newer so no need to replace.
