G'day all,
1996 Discovery 300 Tdi auto.
If you were a nefarious seller, looking to flog off a broken car for more than it's worth, how would you go about disabling the ABS light? I ask as somebody who has intentionally bought a known broken car with a purportedly disabled ABS light off a quite upset legitimate seller, and can't help but wonder how easy it would be to fix. I'd like to get the presumably intentionally disable ABS light working so that I can have a go at reading the blink codes. I am making the assumption that the ABS light should come on with the key and then go out, but it isn't illuminating at all.
The previous owner told me they bought the car sight unseen from NSW, had it delivered to Hobart and then discovered it had issues. Chances are high that repairs are not going to be easy, as it ended up with justinc who has taken a look and deemed it uneconomical to repair. Prior to my purchase he mentioned that it had airbag and ABS issues, but the airbag issue seems to have been resolved between when he saw it and I bought it, though I have no idea how.
Below is (I hope) a video of the dash lights as I turn the key on. The tape over the airbag light is a nice touch...
If it can't easily be fixed, that's fine too, then I'll just use the car for what I actually bought it for, and I'll feel noticeably less guilty about it.
Cheers,
Martin

I believe that there is a 5(?) amp fuse in the main fuse box (under dash) that some remove and the bulb may have been removed (remove binnacle and instruments and bulb can be accessed from the rear. Pretty simple to check either - 5-10 minute job
