Disco 1 V8 Fuel Pump - fuel lines

I’m about to replace my fuel pump in my Disco 1 but have a question about the compression coupling on the fuel lines to the pump. See pic of existing pump. I have new nuts and olives to fit to the new pump. How tight should these fittings be?? 8CDA48ED-9D90-43F9-B450-8D34C27B8EF2.jpg

Well I’ve done the job and the truck runs better than it has for a long while. The old fuel pump came out a brown colour. I guess if it was originally white then 24 years is a long time for the plastic casing to be in there. No leaks to be seen. Its hard to know if the big red ring is tight enough. I used a large pipe wrench to tighten as hard as I could. The rubber seal that came out was in very good condition, but I still replaced with a new one.

One thing for anyone doing this, be very careful when you undo the fuel line nuts. I had to use a lot of force and the plastic on the old pump cracked. Lucky it’s not going back in. 😳

Have examined the original genuine pump supplied with the car it is branded AC with number 25165432. See pics. I also found in the catalogue that the published AC Delco part is EP150AU.

What model year is your car? I have a 1997 Efi and the pump number is: ESR 3926. Around 200K Km's and on at least its 3rd replacement pump. And to add insult it has been on LPG for about 120k Km's of that, where the pump is only in use for starting.

The new pumps always come with the nuts and olives included, and it appears that the mounting is also different. Also come with a new fuel level sensor.

Ok, my disco is a 97 Efi also LR part number same as yours. At 170k this is my first change of pump since new. All good now, the engine runs better than it has for years. Clearly the pump has been faulty for quite a while, slowly getting worse. Interestingly the original pump is an acdelco as pictured above. It’s branded AC on the base.
