Just bought a replacement alternator for my D1 3.9 1994 build date
The replacement has a smaller pulley and the tensioner cannot apply adequate tension to the serpentine belt to avoid slipping when the air conditioner is running
Im considering swapping the pulley with the original alternator.
Question 1
Is their a trick to undoing the pulley nut.
Question 2
Is the pulley nut right or left to undo
PS
The alternator failed after performing a jump start of another car and the tacho stopped working
After replacing the alternator the tacho still does not work
Any thoughts on the tach o issue
Thanks in advance
Stewie
A way to undo the alternator nut is to get an old belt, wrap it around the pulley, place the belt tightly in a Vice so that the pulley cannot move by holding the alternator tightly above the vice and pulling the belt tight with the vice partially closed , fully close the vice and undo the nut.
It may vary but I have found most to be conventional thread direction.
