    Remove front grill

Front grill has cracked at 3 top mounting points. Need to remove and plastic weld/fix.

I have removed one from a Disco 2, after the 3 top fixings it just lifts out, easy.

Not so with disco 1. I've searched Rave but nothing, also some posts about a screw behind headlight by removing
indicator. I've looked and looked, cannot locate where these screws are.

Does anyone have a diagram or picture? pointing to where these are?
it looks like the lower headlight surround needs to be moved??

Any help would be appreciated before I just break it off and work it out with a replacement grille.

Mine is a 1996 facelift, no idea what it's like on the '89-'94 models...

    1. With bonnet open, disconnect spring holding in indicator.

    2. Disconnect harness from back of indicator. Push down right at the rear to disengage the latch.

    3. Undo the indicated screw with a Philips head screwdriver. There is a free-floating flange nut on the other side, so watch you don't lose that. I haven't needed to put a spanner on it, your mileage may vary.

    4. Slide the headlight surround sideways out of the grille.

About the only trick to watch out for beyond that is the dowel below the screw:

Rinse and repeat on the other side!

The grille is also tucked into the front bumper somewhat, but a bit of careful wriggling inwards and up along the bottom edge will extract it.

    Cheers,
    Martin

    Hi Martin,
Seriously, Thanks heaps for the pics.
I had removed the indicator and was focusing on finding a 'screw behind headlight'.
well, naturally, I was looking at where the grille and headlight surround seemed to be attached...doh!.

Like most things, really simple when you know how.
Now to get the plastic welder out and fix.

    Thanks again.
    Ron.

    No worries!

As you say, it's easy when you know how. It took myself and my father-in-law a an hour or so to figure it out the first time, but less than 5 minutes to whip it apart to take some photos this time.

    Cheers,
    Martin
