Thread: 98 D1 V8 two button central locking remote programing

One of the remote fobs for the central locking on our 1998 D1 V8i is no longer functioning. I've opened it up tried a replacement battery and visually inspected all connections on the board without identifying any cause for it's failure. Given that it's got a build date of 1997 I've ordered a refurbished replacement fob.

My issue now is how do I program the new remote in on it's arrival? I keep finding a procedure for the older Discovery 1 single button remotes (which doesn't work on our later vehicle - I tried) or using the Lynx device. Is there any alternative methods (I have a Black Box Solutions Nanocom Evolution, GAP Diagnostic IID Tool and Android device with OBD2 connections and Torque software, on hand here if any could work instead)?

I have a hawkeye that I used to program my 1997 D1 300tdi fob (315Mhz). Have a look to see if there is anyone nearby with a hawkeye.
