I'll have a peek at mine.
I have the D1 of course and a couple of D2s.
The lock mechanism would be my worry tho.
Totally different in each series .. as well as the pivot area too.
So I asked this question a while ago about D2 rear seats into my D1. People said you'd need the lower u bolt in the floor and that it would be hard to do.
But then I find this. Land Rover Discovery 2 seats into Discovery 1 - YouTube
Now I don't speak Russian (is that Russian?), But this guy has clearly put D2 rear seats into a D1.
I want to do that because of the lap/sash seatbelt on the D2. And the extra headrest.
I've also seen on a few UK forums that theyve done it too. So I'm asse that the D2 U bolt in the floor is mounted to a backing plate? I don't have a D2 to confirm it.
Actually I don't even have a D1 at the moment after the engine died. Getting a quote done at the moment. If I'm spending significant $ on the car, I thought a bit extra for the safety of child #3 is probably not a bad idea either.

forget the lock mechanism .. it's all in the seat.
No locks on the body to worry about.(like the D1s' locking system)
So as already noted, how to set up the bar required for the latch on the seat to lock onto the floor.
The main issue is size.
The D2 rear seat is 40mm wider where it sits between the interior trim.
(I think I may have mentioned this before in another thread).
Where the D1s' seat locks are, the trim will need to be removed, and the gap between the body panel measured.
I don't know how much void space behind the trim to body.
