Oiling the pump will help, failing that If it were me I'd be installing a vacuum tank. An old fire extinguisher works well.
My 300 tdi vacuum pump is playing up. It works fine above idle but at idle does not make vacuum.
This is the second pump now that has done exactly the same thing and I am sick of replacing an item with another one that I know will fail again.
So I am looking at the electric option. There are plenty of threads on this topic which I have read, but I am thinking slightly different.
The fact that mine works ok above idle, I was thinking of getting a cheap pump and running it in parallel with the original pump.
As the original works ok above idle the electric would only be needed at idle, therefore the electric would not run very much.
The fact that it would not run much would suggest that an eBay cheaply would suffice.
Would this work? Can anyone offer up input as to why it wouldn't work?
Would I need to put check valves on both pumps?
Dave.

How do l oil it? I'm guessing oil down the vacuum port yes?
If so how much?

just pull any vacuum hose and a squirt of engine oil should reinvigorate it. it might take a while to travel down the hose depending how far from pump
