I’m a new member with an electrical issue and looking for some help.
I have a much loved worn out 95 Discovery 1, 3.9 V8. I’m trying to remedy an intermittent ignition start fault which goes back some years, when it corrected itself and now has again reappeared. Simply, on positioning the switch key to 3, the starter relay/solenoid engages the starter motor, but there is no corresponding HT spark from the coil. I’ve renewed the Ignition Coil, the Distributor Pickup module, the 2x 6.8ohm Resistors, a new battery, I’ve wired 2 LED, with resistors to the coil positive/negative which confirms voltage. The fault occurs with either a hot/cold engine. The LR immobilizer has been removed and replaced with a Uniden model from which I have removed their immobilizer, retaining only the Uniden FOB for door locking. The Ignition Amplifier was replaced with a second-hand module which tests OK, but I’m of a mind to renew it as the coil negative LED should flicker, whereas I’m getting a constant illumination. The one definite occurrence is the Ignition resets itself after ~10 minutes. Apart from this the D1 is tuned and run very well.
I cordially ask is there anyone able to provide some input.
Many thanks. Regards Tony G
