    Discovery 1 tyre make

Hi all. Anyone remember what the brand name and series was on these. I want to fit new tyres and are looking at Dunlop Grippers
Wondering if these were the OEMs for the series. Mine is 92.
Also what size would the forum recommend.
    Thanks

I’m not definite but I suspect it was the Michelin 4x4 XPC which is not longer manufactured. It was replaced with the Michelin Synchrone but I don’t think that it made either anymore.

My ‘98 D1 came with 205Rx16 Michelins on steel wheels, if you had alloy wheels the size was 235x70x16. Mine is now on 225x75x16 BFG A/Ts which are as near as dammit to the original diameter. They don’t overwhelm the tdi 300 on the highway and are reasonably capable on moderate tracks.

I am pretty sure the XPC was on the D2,not the D1.

Great road and sand tyre, that got noisy as it wore, like many tyres.

Useless on dirt or rocky roads, rocks went straight through the tread.
