    300TDi rear timing cover.

    It looks like I'll have to remove the rear timing cover on the D1 to safely remove the broken tensioner bolt. I'm tipping that's a sump off job, am I right?
    Giving it a soak in ATF/acetone tonight, one more try tomorrow. It's been sitting for a while...

    Have you tried an ezi out in a small hammer drill? I have had some success using aldi ezi outs with a hammer drill.

    Thanks Tom. I've got a set of those, but the broken bit is about 10mm proud of the hole atm, so I'll keep trying with the stud extractor for now. My own fault, should have done it when it first happened. It's been soaking overnight, so I'll warm it up and try again.

    That did it, but it was tight all the way out . Might be helicoil time...
