Time to get 'im going... NOT a resto

The old 300TDi has sat for maybe three years since he broke the timing belt tensioner stud. As I need to get it together to move on from this place, having to tow Dave everytime I need him moved is a PITA, especially alone, so time to get him to run. Major work can wait.

In the box of bits I bought a year ago, belt, tensioner, rockers and push rods, there was a "P" gasket. Ok, while I'm in there....

Of course, there's no way this was leaking...

The three dreaded bolts were a worry, but careful use of an impact gun ( NOT a rattle gun ) seems to free the threads of stickiness. If you've ever broken one of these you'll know what I mean.

It's been so long I don't remember what else was wrong. I'm sure he'll remind me. When I find the right place to move to he can have some proper love. He wasn't a pretty car, but he was a good one.

I would suggest that before you put the P gasket in place, renewing the welch plug might save you some work in the longer term...

    Cheers,
    Tom.
