Personally, I'd keep the alloys. Which style do you have?
Just get some 245/75 tyres for it, they 'fill the wheel arch' relatively well.
Mind that over filling the wheel arches, with too large tyre) has consequences too.
You'll get larger turning circle(obviously front), they can bind on the body at the rear(camel cut), and you can still get inner wheel arch rubbing too, if the suspension is not set up properly.
You should have a security adapter in the glovebox, which has the security pattern on one side and a 27mm(or 1 1/16) hex on the other, and you remove just like a normal nut.
If you have the chrome cover type wheel nuts, ie. not just the standard hex head, then a 28mm socket fits a bit better, less squeezy, and less damaging to the chrome cover of the wheel nut.
Wheel nuts aren't hugely expensive, so just replace the security nuts with 4 x standard nuts. I did this on my D2 .. so much easier.
Arthur.
All these discos are giving me a heart attack!
