Weird whirring noise from the engine bay.

    Hey guys,
Parked the 97 TDi in a car park and turned the engine off. there was this strange whirring noise. The only way I could stop it was disconnect the battery
I have no idea what it could be as I expect there is nothing electrically powered connected (that I am aware of)..
I will admit the Discovery electrical systems baffle me...

    Does anyone have any ideas...
    cheers
    Scott

Wink Weird whirring noise from the engine bay.

    Hey Guys, all sorted

with some coffee and daylight and a little bit of research.
The whirring noise was the starter motor still spinning. No grinding so it was obviously getting power but the solenoid wasn't throwing it.
Swapped out the ignition relay and away we go.

    cheers
