    CV joint replacement

    Hi everyone,

I managed to break a CV out in the bush in the weekend.
We limped the car back in 2 wheel drive by taking the front drive flanges off and removing the front tail shaft.

I'm just looking for some advice on what CV to replace it with?

With a quick google search I found a kit from 4wd industries which looks like it is a Britpart kit. This would make it nice and easy but should I be avoiding aftermarket and going with genuine? Or are there any tried and true aftermarket options??

    Thanks for any suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Riley

I would use the ones from your parts car before a cheap after market.

    Cost no object, then Ashcroft.

Well we pulled it apart today.

I had assumed the normal failure mode of a CV would be the bell exploding, but the young bloke who watches more YTthan me thinks this is a common mode of failure.

This side is all ready to go back together but given the wheel and upper swivel bearings are toast, we're assuming the other side will need doing as well.

It had one shot grease in it, it was very pretty and sparkling 🤪

    Diff oil is clean😁

Wheel bearing grease looks suspiciously like copper coat😲

Parts on the way to do the other side, and will redo the rear wheel bearings as well.
