I would suggest that the rear bracket be tension strength based only like a high tension bar with threads in both ends. As it is the shape of the flat bar at the rear anchorage works like a lever forcing the head of the bolt.
It would be nice to secure the bottom in some way that help the forward motion better. Perhaps a flat bar under the storage unit if this is bolted to the floor.
Ron it is correct in saying that it is nothing wrong in mounting on an thin aluminium panel providing that large plates are used to spread the load.

Well, I dunno. I'm not an engineer but in this application, I'd prefer all the bolts to be in shear. I don't like the idea of the top rear bolts being in tension. The bolt won't break, that's not an issue, but I think that the plate into which the bolt is screwed should be mounted behind the metal panel and be large enough in area to not be pulled through in an accident.

When you look at the Milford fitting instructions you can see that getting a bolt into the side panel and having it in shear isn't easy. The metalwork is a long way behind the outer trim cover. That's why they have that dog-legged bracket. To be honest, I can't see an easy way to do it.

If you never carry rear passengers the upper seat belt bolts may be OK if you moved the attachment points on the barrier up to be in line with the bolts. However, this doesn't address the legalities of it.

Re the first bit, I agree.

Re the thin panel, that's what Milford do so I believe it's OK at floor level.

that’s the one I was going to buy of ebay $350 but i got hold of this one the mounts are all the same as supplied from Milford we just fabricated the bottom mounts and utilized the existing bolt down on the floor, doesn’t move trust me!!, but the guys did have a point about the top mounts and lm going to do that soon
