Couple more mucking about!
Most are my old Disco which went to the scrapyard. You can understand why!
I think I'd need a cliffside to get my 300Tdi airborne.
...and a tailwind! At least mine will until Dave gives it a stern lecture pretty soon.....
G'day all,
It's taken me a bit but I'm finally dropping the mandatory post. This forum is a treasure trove of information and ideas, which I've used on more than a few occasions, which I do appreciate. I purchased a 97 300Tdi Discovery late in 2015 to set up as a tourer prior to moving to NQ in 2016. Being on a tight budget I had to bide my time for the right vehicle to present itself.
Since owning the Disco we've done a few day trips out to the Lithgow area, Coffs Harbour, a few of the 4wd parks in SE QLD, The Glasshouse Mts and just recently the CREB track. I've generally done this with mates who all own more modern and tricked up rigs, never have I been left behind and on a few occasions I've been the only rig to get through (combo of car and driver ).
Due to the budget all maintenance and modifications have been done by myself, with the exception of the fabrication on the trailer. All of which has been made simple by the RAVE and this forum. The modifications to the vehicle are:
-ARB Bullbar
-Runva 11k winch
-26" LED light bar
-9" HID spotlights
-Snorkle
-Allisport double core Intercooler
-Tweaked fuel pump
-Straight through 2 1/4 exhaust
-Dual Optima batteries
-Gauges (boost, oil pressure, voltmeter, EGT)
-SAAS steering wheel
-LED interior lights
-All suspension mods are Terrafirma
-2" lift HD springs
-Front shocks +2" Pro Sport
-Rear Shocks +3" Pro Sport
-Tube strut towers
-F&R dislocation cones
-ext bump stops
-Cranked trailing arms
-Camel cut
-extended rubber wheel arc flares
-33" Goodride MT SL386 on the Factory alloys
-235/85r16 Bridgestone MT674 on steel rims with -25 offset
-ARB half basket roof rack (when required)
-Pioneer head unit with 4" co-axials and 6x9s
-12v bus bar in the rear inc Anderson plug off second battery.
The next mods on the list (will it ever stop?), in no particular order
-F, C & R Ashcroft ATB's
-HD steering/drag arm + pan hard rod
-new/re-cored radiator due to towing
-Defender front brake set up
- 2 3/4 exhaust with ceramic coated manifold
Recently purchased a ex-Army 1/2 ton trailer. Welded a frame onto the trailer to mount the RTT. Refurbished the spring pack, removed a leaf from each pack due to the lighter weight the trailer will haul. The Bridgestones are currently being used on the trailer as well as 30mm spacers to get the trailer to track as close to the Disco as possible.

330km on the motor but rebuilt 20000 ago with receipts.
Broken transfer but picked it up for a steal at $500 with a second hand refurbed transfer and a tonne of spares.
And of course the ever trusty p38 dragging her home.
Check it out, fit this 50L Iron Man Ice Cube fridge on a fridge slide lengthways in the back, I had to get the cargo/pet barrier modified slightly to push it as far forwards as it could go but it all fits on top of those drawers and the door closes fine...very happy with this and the team at Prestige Off Road for sorting it out...I make no apologies for not doing it myself, they have done a better and quicker job than I could ever do!
They also wired it up with a screw in 12V plug that won't shake loose from a bumpy ride, clever chaps!
