Had same style wheels on a Datto 1600 back in the day.
We wiped vaseline on the polished surface, hit them with engine enamel and carefully wiped the polished surface clean.

Thanks for that Dan . sounds like the way to go ;) . Thinking of red the same as the disco or go with the black again ...... might do a poll :D;).
and if the vas doesnt work properls just put a lil bit of enamel thinners on a rag and wipe the polished bit
