Welcome Jono, where are you located? There are standard setups that use two tanks inplace of the stock petroltank. About 72 useable litres I belive. There is an auxillary pertol tank fitted to the right rear quarter that is about 30L.
Hi iam new to this forum and looking at buying a 94/95 disco v8 and i just want to know how much room is there under the floor to put a gas tank is it posible to fit a samller petrol tank.
i dont want to put the gas tank inside the car as i have seen a lot of on here

For the dimensions of the manifold tank see: http://www.apamfg.com.au/Downloads/p...dimensions.pdf
The problem with the Disco I and the late RRc which are essentially the same is that the fuel pump is a submerged unit and doesn't work well in a shallow tank, on steep grades. i.e, sill petrol tanks.
What I thought would be a solution would be a fuel tank with the same bottom profile and position as a long range (120 litre) tank with a short top just enough to allow a manifold tank to sit on top. Hopefully the under tank would have about 70-80 litres.
The other addition I am considering is having APA make up some special tanks, made on the manifold cylinder diameter and end caps that will fit in the sills on each side of the Disco I and RRc. Each tank would give about 20 litres LPG and added to the manifold you would get just under 100 litres LPG.
I suppose if we could get a number of people we may convince APA to do a run.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Thanks for the quick posts iam in the north east of vic.
so with the scuba tank you keep the std fuel tank?
wouldnt fitting a surge tank mean that the main tank could be a very diffrant shape from the std one?
both of your sugestions sound ok
Here's a bit more clarification; there are 2 common LPG options:
1) Fit the 'scuba' manifold style tank in the back of the car on the floor.
This 'scuba' manifold tank is the three smaller tanks joined together, with about 60L useable gas in total. APA and Manchester both make one.
You would lose just over 200mm in height in the back of the car with this type of tank.
You do get to keep the original petrol tank with this option.
2) Fit the underfloor LPG tanks and add the smaller petrol tank near the right rear sill.
The underfloor LPG uses 2 separate tanks hooked together and goes where the original petrol tank is. Useable LPG is around 75L.
The sill petrol tank only holds about 35L petrol.
The underfloor LPG usually costs about $1000 more than the 'scuba' still in the back.
I haven't heard of anyone fitting the 'scuba' style tanks under the floor, don't think it can be done as they are too long to replace the original petrol tank.
Other options are to put a normal single cylinder in the back, this way you can get around 100L useable LPG and still keep the original petrol tank.
But if you still want to use the back then this option is obviously out.
