    D1 Recovery Point

I am new to Land rovers.

My D1 has the usual tie down pointing out from the front but also has 2 u shaped hooks attached to the front chassis rail.

On the rear it has a wider u shaped section on the chassis rail.

My question - are these rated recovery points or next to useless?

If no use for heavy hauling (ie out of ditches etc,) - what options (and costs) are there for fitting rated recovery points on a 1993 Disco?

    Thanks

Sorry can't tell from your descriptions. Whatever you have is not stock (stock is only tie down) and they could be anything.

ssv8pilot, the points you mention are purely tie downs for shipping the vehicle.
do a search on this site for recovery points and you will find some.
also v8landy has posted a link to arb, they sell the rated recovery points, shown as tow points in their site.

The one at the front is the tow point (not a recovery point). The ones underneath are tie down points.

if you have a rear tow bar--

it has been known for people to use that.

I heard you just slide the strap loop into the receiver and replace the pin,,

    or so I heard--

Thanks for the responses so far - will see if I can take some pics on the weekend.

The loops I am referring to seem factory standard but not heavy duty - I think they may just be tie down loops for the chassis.

If that is the case - is it easy to fit aftermarket rated recovery points to the chassis? - Ie do bolt holes exist for brackets to be added?
