Nice pics Tim, thanks for sharing. Brings back memories as it looks remarkably like the bottom of Carters Trail and the last could be at one of the hairpin bends.

All the pics are taken on halls peak trail, (about 5km's down stream from carters) sadly carters has been locked off

I've been down to the Halls Peak camping ground twice last month, national parks have put in toilets, tables and camp fire areas and graded the road pretty well too (bit too well). They also put a dirty big gate at the top of the track.
I rang National Parks to find out more info on when it will be locked and was told "in the near future" So I'll just keep going down there til the near future comes.

Yeah the first toilet went in just before easter and they have put two more in since along with about 10-12 BBQ areas and afew picknick tables.
About the gate i think they are just going to lock it off and people who want to go down there just ring national parks and they send you a key in the post.
I think this is so they can control the amount of people down there at one time and there will be a fee involved to, to fund all the work they have done down there
In my opinion i wish they just left the track alone, i think the reason was when the track was still realy bad a hilux bounced off the edge and national parks had to recover them

Unfortunately, as Tim said, Carters Rd is closed. Apparently due to erosion issues. I doubt they'll put the same work into it as they have for Halls Peak trail

I'll be down there from the 24th to the 28th with the RFS. Part of what we'll be doing is checking trails for access over the fire season. It's nice to know what size truck (if any) will fit down those tracks.

Carters trail was put in so a truck could transport water for the mine. The water truck had to zig-zag (forward from one hairpin then reverse to another and so on. But many of those areas, for running past the bends have eroded away now.

I had to do 3 point turns in the disco on a couple of the turns and 2 point on the rest. Some longer wheel base vehicles took 4 goes on some bends.
