    Turbo " squeal" 300 tdi

My turbo deveolped what i can best describe as a squeal and slight loss of power, only on acceleration when nearing peak revs. Have discovered a split in the 90 deg hose from the turbo. Would this be the likely cause of the noise ?.

    Thanks gurus

check your turbo hose and the wastegate boost signal line for cracks.
and make sure your circlips are tighly holding the factory hoses on the alloy pipe.

Yes the split hose is most likely the cause but the turbos do eventually get a little wear in the bearings which gets a bit of a whine happening.....right before the loud crunching noise of metal going through the engine.

Check/change your hoses and see what it's like then.

I reckon the split is the issue. You get a squal when winding up and you definately lose power. Change it ASAP as if it delaminates this can cause big issues and they can delaminate quite easily once it has a split.

Thanks for your advice all , have replaced the 90 deg elbow hose and appear to have no more issues. Just have to get rid of this tappet noise now

Hi , have adjusted a couple of times but cant seen to get it right !! have just put in new rings , main and big end bearings plus timing kit. I have also replaced the pushrods and valve stem caps but still cant get rid of the noise . Its fine at idle just when it getos to 1500 rpm it starts to tick. Driving me crazy

Not a manifold leak is it?
